"When shall I be
perfectly thine,
O my God...?"
"When thou shalt no longer
possess anything, and
shalt die to thyself..."
"And where should I do that, Lord?"
"In
the
desert..."

deep
deep
oh
so
Deep
Desert
Blues
~~~
Intro
I must express
myself ~ it
is
due ~
Sorry but
I must
bend
the ear on you ~
I must
o' been walking
in
a dream ~
Or
so it
do
seem ~
Walked
right
out
of town ~
Walked
up
a long hill
and down ~
Walked
thru
busy
honey bees ~
Walked
thru
all them
forest trees ~
Walked
along
the
roaring highway ~
Yes
I
was walking
My Way ~
To the beat
of
an odd-ball drummer
you might say ~
I was walking
and walking
day
after day ~
From one mountain
to anudder
and
into the rocks ~
Where rare is the hum
of motors
and the tick
of clocks ~
Where I lit
a campfire
and
planted my cross ~
Under the stars
and the threat
of
a frost ~
And hollered at
God
who hollered back
in the wind ~
And I kept on
walkin'
as I contemplated
my sin ~
Until
fine-
oh-
ly!
Thirsty
down-trodden
lanky
old me ~
Was walkin' across
the desert
the desert
o' my dreams ~
Counting my
pennies
and adding up
the sum of my schemes ~
'Til I found
this
old
tug boat ~
That could
no
longer
float ~
Marooned
in
the
desert sand ~
A rotten
wooden
boat
please understand ~
That never-the-less
did float
in the moat
of my eye ~
Under a
true blue
yahoo
desert sky!
